One purchase. An ongoing relationship.
Set up memberships and understand how they differ from additional charges.
Three different operations
| Operation | Amount and timing |
|---|---|
| Initial purchase | The Shopify cart total when checkout completes. |
| Membership | The price and recurrence set in Stripe, after the configured trial. |
| Batch charge | The amount you prepare for eligible, authorized customers of a gateway. |
They can use the same saved method, but keep their own status and history. A batch does not change a membership’s price or renewal date.
Configure a membership
- In Stripe, create the product and recurring price with the currency, amount and frequency you want to offer.
- Refresh products in Atlas’s gateway wizard and select that price.
- Enter a trial between 0 and 28 days. With 0 days, the first membership fee does not wait for a free trial.
- Review the summary and save. The product, price and frequency must match what you tell customers.
What happens when the customer buys
The customer pays the initial purchase and the membership is linked when enrollment is confirmed. Hiding design text does not disable the membership. If you manage terms outside Atlas, present them before purchase. If enrollment cannot complete, review the issue; do not treat a pending membership as active.
Check the next payment or cancel
- Open Memberships and find the customer.
- Review status, price, currency, trial and the next available payment date.
- Open related payments to confirm which renewals were collected.
- To cancel, use the detail action and check whether it is immediate or at period end before confirming.
If a renewal does not complete
Review the failure reason and current status. The bank may request verification or decline the method. Follow the available payment-recovery instructions. Before using a batch as a substitute, check whether attempts or retries are already pending.
Prepare a batch charge
- Select the customers’ gateway and set amount and currency.
- Choose all eligible customers or filter by their first completed payment.
- Simulate. Review included customers and the reasons others are excluded.
- Set the average interval, review and confirm. Follow progress in batch details.
